Irina eftimie
Irina is a Junior Architect at John Toates Architecture and Design who graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture. She started her studies in her home country, Romania, and then continued her studies in the US. She had the opportunity to make comparative studies of different cultures, different architectural typologies and the involvement of social, economic and cultural aspects in the architectural setting. Living and studying in a foreign setting focuses attention on issues taken for granted in familiar surroundings.
In addition to Irina’s passion for architecture, she enjoys caving, discovering and mapping new underground passages in caves all around the world. Inhospitable and hard to access, caves are almost untouched worlds and ideal traps for scientific evidence, environments that promote efficient and effective communication, decision-making, problem-solving, leadership and team dynamics. Irina also enjoys sketching and producing maps for the passages she discovers, a way of exercising her architectural skills in her hobby.
