Sweet Spire Farmhouse
Project Description
For the ground-up construction of the Sweet Spire Farm House, we sacrificed nothing when it came to materiality. Everything from the wood exterior to the standing seam metal roof to the fixtures and the interiors were sustainably built to last. The design hones a contemporary interpretation of the coastal vernacular of the neighborhood; everything from its scale and materials to its color—a cool charcoaled blue—are fitting for its proximity to the water.
Like the exterior, the interior modernizes the charming characteristics typical of the locale. Abundant with windows, the living spaces are bright and open, with warm wood floors to add a touch of depth to this light-filled space. Upstairs, in the private rooms, we took a similar approach favoring light and warmth. The bathrooms are bright with white subway tile and classic black and white tile flooring. Overall, the space provides a perfect blank slate for those who find a home here.
