SUNROOM PORCH ADDITION
Project Description
Many hold the opinion that the porch is the best room in the house. It’s a versatile space where great conversations are had, entire books are read, and sunsets are observed. The existing terrace sat facing due south, which rendered many hours of the day too hot and exposed to use the space as one would hope. As a solution, we reconfigured the façade and landscaping to include a new, livable terrace. The pre-existing space was converted into a sunroom using storm panels, which gives the room three season versatility, while acting as an extension of the living room. All additions were sustainably built to honor the large scale and classic style of the existing structure. The resulting indoor-outdoor living area, with its wide glass panes and stonework flooring, captures the relaxed porch feel without sacrificing comfort.
